The South African Social Security Agency has confirmed that people receiving the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress grant will get their payments on specific dates at the end of April 2026.
The agency stated that payments will happen on 23–24 April and 29–30 April 2026. This gives recipients two different opportunities to collect their money. SASSA explained that the R370 SRD grant is designed for people facing financial difficulties who meet certain requirements.

The agency noted that according to COVID-19 SRD regulations a person needing temporary help may qualify for the grant if they do not have enough money to support themselves. SASSA also described the legal and residency requirements that applicants must satisfy.
Eligible individuals include South African citizens and permanent residents as well as refugees and asylum seekerswho have proper documentation. People with special permits under recognized programs can also apply. The agency emphasized that applicants need to meet specific age and living situation conditions.

Applicants must be between 18 and 59 years old and currently living in South Africa. They cannot be staying in a government-funded institution and must not refuse job offers or educational opportunities without good reason. The SRD grant was created to help vulnerable people during tough economic times.
It continues to offer temporary support to millions of unemployed South Africans who do not get other government assistance. People receiving the grant should check their payment dates and make sure their personal information is current to prevent any delays in getting their funds.
